When the JSA premiered in 1940, Wonder Woman was the JSA “Secretary.”  Years later, when Crisis on Infinite Earths happened, Wonder Woman was erased from continuity. The “fix” for this was to put Miss America (a Quality Comics character obtained by DC in the 1950s) as a stand in for Wonder Woman’s JSA adventures.
